This edition of Creative Heads offers a look into the work and life of writer and performer Michael Fehr.

Michael Fehr studied at the Swiss Institute of Literature and the Y Institute of the University of Applied Sciences and Art in Bern, before publishing his first book ‘Kurz vor der Erlösung’ in 2013 and the critically acclaimed ‘Simeliberg’ in 2015. In 2019 Fehr was the recipient of an artist residence award, which brought him to London for six months. Born with a visual impairment, in this episode Fehr speaks about his preference for the spoken word over the written word, about listening and about his experience of navigating London. His latest book ‘Hotel der Zuversicht’ appeared in spring 2022 (Der gesunde Menschenversand).

“There were some situations when I realised, when people read my stories, they somehow think it’s complicated because they don’t understand where you have to put the weight in the sentence, that means where you have to put the weight in the phrasing. But as soon as you listen to my stories and then to their specific rhythms it becomes easier.”
